Celebrating India's Republic Day: A Grand Parade and Cultural Programs

 

 


 

For the people of India, Republic Day is a day that celebrates the nation’s constitution coming into effect on January 26, 1950. It marks the day when India officially became an independent republic after gaining freedom from British rule in 1947.

The day is celebrated in a grand manner in the national capital of New Delhi. The celebrations begin early in the morning with a grand parade in Rajpath, which is attended by the President of India, the Prime Minister, and other political leaders, as well as by foreign dignitaries.

The President unfurls the national flag, followed by a 21-gun salute. The Prime Minister then delivers the Republic Day address, in which he pays homage to the heroes of the freedom struggle and highlights the progress made by the nation since Independence.

The parade showcases India’s culture, diversity, and military strength. Marching contingents from the three wings of the armed forces, the police, and other paramilitary forces take part in the parade. School childSchoolchildrenren from all over the country are also part of the parade, dressed in colorful traditional dresses. Cultural programs and tableaux depicting India’s culture and progress in different fields are also a part of the parade.
